HSS is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Assistant for our client located in Los Angeles, CA.
The Payroll & Benefits Assistant supports payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee record-keeping under the direction of the Compensation & Benefits Director.
Key responsibilities include:
- Payroll & Timekeeping: Assist with payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in earnings, deductions, and timekeeping compliance. Audit punches, process corrections, and distribute paychecks or stubs.
- Benefits Administration: Help employees with benefits enrollment, review paperwork for accuracy, and submit enrollments or terminations to benefit carriers.
- Employee Support & Communication: Respond to payroll and benefits inquiries, translate documents and conversations in English and Spanish, and provide basic technical support for payroll and timekeeping systems.
- Record-Keeping & Compliance: Maintain electronic personnel files, compile reports, process employment verifications, and handle confidential employee information with discretion.
- New Hire & Event Support: Assist with onboarding, enroll new hires in timekeeping systems, support employee events, and create announcements and materials as needed.
- Professionalism & Teamwork: Ensure compliance with company policies, maintain a high level of customer service, and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
- At least 1 year of payroll, HR, or administrative experience.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask, maintain confidentiality, and work independently.
