EGS is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Nuclear Core Design Engineer to support the design, analysis, and licensing of the SMR-300, an integral pressurized water reactor (PWR) type small modular reactor. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the advancement of next-generation nuclear power in a multidisciplinary, international environment.

As a member of the nuclear analysis team, the successful candidate will be involved in the modeling, analysis, and optimization of the nuclear core and fuel cycle of the SMR-300. Responsibilities include development of physics parameters for core design and safety analysis, benchmarking of core physics models, code qualification and validation, and preparation of licensing documentation. The role may also involve direct interaction with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders.  

The ideal candidate will have experience in core design/analysis, preferably with Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). Desired profile will have experience in CASMO/SIMULATE and Python programming.  Hands on experience with neutronics coding is required.

Job Requirements

 

Minimum Technical Requirements:
*    BS in Nuclear Engineering or Physics (or a closely related field) from an accredited institution.
*    0-5 years of experience in reactor physics, nuclear analysis, or related field (including academic or national lab experience).
*    Demonstrated capability using neutronics or transport codes such as CASMO/SIMULATE or MCNP.
*    Familiarity with nuclear reactor operation and core physics fundamentals.
*    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and strong technical communication skills.

Desirable Additional Qualifications:
*    MS in Nuclear Engineering with a focus in reactor physics or radiation transport.
*    5+ years of experience performing nuclear analysis calculations.
*    Experience with core design benchmarking and code validation using experimental or high-fidelity computational results.
*    Familiarity with Python or similar programming languages.
*    Prior experience preparing regulatory submittals to the U.S. NRC and knowledge of NUREG-0800 Chapters 4 and 15.
*    Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 export control regulations.

Software Tools Used: CASMO/SIMULATE, MCNP, Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with programming/scripting languages like Python is a plus.
