EGS is seeking a Certifying Engineer pressure vessel/heat exchanger expert.  The Certifying Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and reviewing pressure vessel and heat exchanger designs to ensure they comply with relevant safety codes and standards, performing calculations, reviewing fabrication drawings, and ultimately certifying the equipment is fit for service, often requiring extensive knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), ASME Section III and Section VIII and other industry regulations; essentially acting as a technical expert to guarantee the structural integrity and safety of these critical components throughout their lifecycle.

Key responsibilities:
*    Evaluate mechanical design calculations for pressure vessels and heat exchangers, including wall thickness, stress analysis, and material selection.
*    Review vendor drawings and fabrication plans to ensure compliance with design specifications and applicable codes.
*    Conduct thermal and structural analysis to assess the equipment's performance under operating conditions.
*    Thorough understanding and application of relevant pressure vessel codes (ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, API, etc.)
*    Interpret and enforce code requirements during design, fabrication, and inspection stages
*    Identify potential non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions
*    Issue certifications for pressure vessels and heat exchangers based on design reviews and inspections
*    Apply appropriate "U" or "S" stamps as per ASME code requirements depending on the application
*    Specify suitable materials for pressure vessel and heat exchanger components based on operating conditions and code requirements
*    Review material test reports to verify compliance with specifications
*    Oversee in-field inspections during fabrication and installation to ensure quality control
*    Conduct pressure testing and other required quality checks
*    Provide technical expertise to engineering teams regarding pressure vessel and heat exchanger design
*    Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to address fabrication challenges
*    Assist in failure analysis investigations if necessary




 
Job Requirements

 

Required qualifications:
*    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
*    Professional Engineer (PE)
*    Extensive experience in pressure vessel and heat exchanger design and analysis
*    Thorough knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) ASME Section III and Section VIII and other relevant industry standards
*    Proficiency in engineering software for design calculations and analysis
*    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
*    Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
