EGS is currently seeking applicants for a Geotechnical Engineer position supporting the Dept. Of Energy (DOE) in Carlsbad NM at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP). This is a long-term assignment with top competitive rates, excellent benefits and full government Per Diem (including rental car and gas). Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.
The successful candidate will perform underground mining/geotechnical engineering activities including design, development, and test duties and responsibilities. Train and qualify as an Alternate Cognizant Engineer on several engineering systems. Perform daily interface activities and assist with planning an execution of underground mining activities. Evaluate and select appropriate methods and procedures to produce economical and efficient applications. Analyze and recommend incorporation of technological advancements in techniques, principles, theories, equipment, and utilization. Collaborate with project engineers and management to determine technical requirements and performance objectives of assigned projects.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Geology with 5+ years experience in mining or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mining, Geotechnical or Mechanical Engineering is desired.
Experience with the design, installation and monitoring of ground control techniques in salt rock excavations is preferred.
Experience with managing geotechnical field inspections and monitoring systems is preferred.
