EGS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Mechanical Engineer for immediate employment for our customer in Carlsbad, NM for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP). This is a long-term assignment with top competitive rates and full government Per Diem (including rental car and gas) along with one trip home per month. Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.

Perform mechanical evaluation and design of facilities (HVAC systems, mechanical piping, building services piping, plumbing systems, compressed air systems, energy auditing, etc.)Work typically includes support of project proposals; design calculations(cooling and heating loads, equipment selection, duct and pipe pressure drops); developing Ventilation flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and Control sequences of operations; selection and layout of mechanical equipment and associated duct and piping systems; and developing mechanical construction and equipment specifications, and system design descriptions. The engineer will typically work in a design team environment consisting of a project manager, project engineer, and multi-discipline architectural and engineering staff to produce project design packages of drawings, specifications, and calculations.

Job Requirements

 

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with 2 years of relevant experience is required.

 Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, is preferred.
  • Five (5) years engineering experience is desired.
  • Previous experience working at DOE nuclear facility is a plus.
  • Knowledge of: StudioLOGIX 5000, ASME AG-1, ASME N-511, ISA 84, and AMCA 210 preferred.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
