Step into Your New Role
The Houston Texas office is seeking candidates that will perform environmental due diligence and site investigations / field sampling services, as well as supporting geotechnical drilling/logging services. We are seeking a candidate that is motivated, can travel and work independently, has strong technical writing skills, and enjoys working a mix of office and outdoors.  The candidate will conduct environmental site work, geotechnical drilling, and field sampling procedures that include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Performing and supporting geotechnical field work / analysis including soil boring logging, rock core logging, sampling, and testing.
  • Conducting site inspections as part of Phase I ESA environmental assessments and compliance audits.
  • Preparation of proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, including day-to-day client and stakeholder correspondence.
  • Review and interpret environmental data and analytical laboratory results.
  • Prepare technical reports, field reports, and internal / external correspondence. 
  • Soil boring and monitoring well installation.
  • Soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater screening and sampling.
  • Storm water, wastewater and influent/effluent process water sampling
  • Oversight of subcontractors and vendors performing drilling, laboratory analytical services, mowing, clearing, maintenance and excavation activities.  
This position is mix of fieldwork and office work. Travel (regional/overnight) may be required.  There is the expectation that the candidate will need to work in all weather conditions, and that the work will be physically and mechanically demanding (must be able to lift 50 pounds).  Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills are critical, as well as the ability to navigate in remote areas and use a GPS, map, and compass to log points or stake features in the field.
The candidate must have an appreciation for the importance of adhering to a safety culture that believes that all accidents are preventable. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to follow written technical procedures and document field activities commensurate with individual project expectations.
  • B.S./M.S. degree in engineering, geology, environmental science or hydrogeology.
  • 3-6 years of experience in the consulting business with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following environmental engineering, geology, or hydrogeology, environmental site assessment, subsurface investigation, and remediation projects.
  • Experience with Phase I site assessment/surface investigation and remediation process including drilling and environmental multi-media sampling techniques and procedures, data interpretation and evaluation, remedial alternatives evaluation and estimating, and report preparation.
  • Experience with Geotechnical drilling including rock core and soil logging, sample collection and drill sub-contractor management.
  • Experience in the preparation of technical reports, proposals and cost estimates.
  • Familiarity with petroleum sites, RCRA facilities, mining operations, linear and pipeline energy projects, and/or industrial properties.as well as GA EPD Programs, Rules, Regulations, Guidance, and SOPs.
  • Ability for meeting and exceeding deadlines while maintaining project budgets and regulatory compliance status.
  • Ability to employ loss prevention and quality control systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and within groups.
  • Future eligibility for Georgia P.G./P.E. license a plus (GIT or EIT) to achieve licensure.
  • GIS, CADD, modelling, and/or 3-D visualization software familiarity required, demonstrated experience a plus.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER health and safety training; MSHA training a plus. 

This position may require work on projects requiring full vaccination from COVID-19.  If that is the case, you will be required to show proof of vaccination or an acceptable exemption in order to work on the project.
