Step into Your New Role
We are seeking a Business Development Director for Environmental Services in the Federal Market reporting to our San Diego Office.
The qualified applicant can look forward to the opportunity to direct and lead federal business development across all business lines but concentrating on Environmental services.
This role may include managing assigned marketing support staff, and there will be opportunities to work independently or in conjunction with senior and executive level staff.
We are looking for an exceptional technical leader with expertise and ability to work with current and future clients. Participating in professional organizations and conferences is expected to support market research and client positioning and to support networking within the market. This role may require making presentations, publishing papers or providing education forums for clients and others in the profession.
Operational management experience is a requirement for this role and must include experience in contract review, proposal review, project performance review and project execution.
Must have strong experience in tracking, reporting and forecasting sales and revenue. This position will require a strong level of market analyses, working closely with Client Account Managers and implementing a business development strategy.
Candidates must have a strong work ethic and an interest in working in the environmental engineering discipline. To qualify as a candidate, you must have 15 or more years of experience in a consulting engineering firm or related service business with a successful track record developing and pursuing major environmental business opportunities with the federal government.
Preference will be given to candidates with a successful track record with NAVFAC SW and Professional Engineer or Geologist registration. Experience working in the Site Assessment/Remediation as well as CEQA and Environmental Planning fields is also preferred.
Candidates should have experience leading responses to Brooks Act and non-Brooks Act Requests for Proposals. Candidates must possess excellent organizational, communication, computer and technical writing skills. Ability to motivate, direct and support proposal teams to win work is a key characteristic for success in this position.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education required, Master's preferred.
15+ years of related experience in consulting engineering firm or related service business and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required; or 11 years related experience with Master's
The selected candidate will work in our team-oriented environment, primarily providing professional services for environmental site assessment and remediation projects. The selected candidate may also support storm water permit compliance projects and other environmental activities.
If selected, you will work with proposal teams, marketing support staff, client account managers and senior technical staff and be expected to provide services which may include:
- Federal Opportunity market research
- Business Development strategy development
- Development of positioning strategies
- Developing teaming arrangements and teaming agreements
- Business development through small business partnering
- SF 330 preparation
- Full proposal (non Brooks Act) preparation
- Project description and resume editing
- Cost estimating and rate sheet development
- Management briefings
- Company representation at industry, client and or professional association events
- Operational management of federal contracts, task order proposal development, cost estimating and contract negotiation.
Depending on experience and capabilities, the selected candidate will also be responsible for managing a portfolio of work and assist in the sales and marketing of services.
