Step into Your New Role   

Kleinfelder is seeking a Senior Wetland Scientist / Ecologist to join the team in Atlanta, GA. 

The successful candidate will perform specific scientific work on client projects including: preparing complex plans, reports, specifications, analyses and calculations.  You may coordinate or supervise assigned staff,  will work independently, using knowledge of industry and/or professional guidelines and protocols to accomplish goals and objectives and solves problems of moderate scope.

The position may also include assisting other biologists in conducting environmental impact assessments, wetland mitigation monitoring, endangered species surveys and habitat assessments, and other permit preparation.

Position Requirements: 

  • BS in an Environmental, Biological or Ecological Science, or Environmental Policy; Masters in a relevant field of study is a plus 
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant wetland experience in the Southeast US;
  • Ability to work flexible work schedules and availability to meet priority deadlines outside of normal working hours;
  • Ability to travel (mostly within North Carolina, however, also includes travel throughout the Southeastern US); 
  • Strong technical writing skills;
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal and state wetland permitting;
  • Passion and aptitutde for learning and career development;
  • A valid driver's license

Preferred Skills/Experience: 

  • Experience conducting wetland delineations in accordance with the USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and supporting Regional Supplements.
  • Experience and/or familiarity of the NC DWR Methodology for Identification of Intermittent and Perennial Streams and Their Origins.
  • Plant and wildlife identification skills, and survey and permitting protocols.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of the states of Georgia and North Carolina and USACE federal environmental laws and regulations, specifically pertaining to wetlands and listed wildlife species.
  • Experience operating GPS units under ArcGIS or Terrasync programs.
  • Experience in ArcGIS or AutoCAD
  • Ability to conduct work year-round in adverse climate and field conditions.
  • Ability to prioritize effort and effectively be engaged on multiple projects at one time.
