Step into Your New Role

The Oakland, CA office has an immediate opening for a Geologist, Environmental Scientist or Environmental Engineer with 1 to 5 years of experience to work on environmental assessment and remediation projects.

 

Responsibilities include planning field activities, field oversight of subcontractors, authoring technical reports, working and communicating in a staff team environment, ensuring quality execution, and compiling/evaluating site data to progress projects toward regulatory closure.

 

Qualified candidates should possess:

  • 1 - 5 years of environmental assessment/remediation field experience
  • Experience with logging soils
  • Experience with soil, surface water, groundwater and/or potable well sampling
  • Experience with various contaminants including: petroleum compounds, chlorinated compounds, metals, etc.
  • Knowledge of RCRA & CERCLA regulations and HAZMAT assessments beneficial
  • Understanding of hydrogeological site models related to assessment and remediation projects
  • Environmental remediation experience: remediation-excavation oversight, groundwater treatment systems, soil vapor extraction systems, in-situ approaches, others
  • Office experience related to scheduling, lab/field-equipment coordination, data evaluation, technical report writing, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)
  • Experience conducting Vapor Intrusion (VI) investigations a plus
  • Must be able to follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and maintain cordial relationships with coworkers, contractors, and clients.
  • Ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions

 

Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required, as well as effective oral and written communication skills.

 

Demonstrated ability to follow direction and work independently, as well as, in a team environment and a positive professional attitude.

 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organization and multi-tasking skills

 

The position requires strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities to ensure compliance with relevant state/federal regulations and client-specific requirements

 

The ideal candidate must have previous experience working on environmental projects and an established technical background in environmental assessment and remediation. 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related discipline
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with up-to-date 8-hour refresher
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to travel and drive regularly, often long distances

 

Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) card and American Petroleum Institute (API) Work Safe certification a plus

 

This position may require work on projects requiring full vaccination from COVID-19.  If that is the case, you will be required to show proof of vaccination or an acceptable exemption in order to work on the project.
