Job Description
Reporting to the CEO the Controller and Head of Accounting and Purchasing leads and manages the company's accounting, purchasing and administrative functions, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, general ledger, payroll and purchasing. In the San Jose Headquarters Office, this is a hands-on role that is also responsible for building, mentoring and leading a team of 6 accounting and purchasing professionals.

  • Manage journal entries and reconcile accounts, including bank statements, for monthly and annual closings
  • Manage inventory stock levels, depletions, obsolete inventory 
  • Prepare annual financial budget, update forecasts periodically
  • Work with 3rd party CPA, providing information necessary to complete tax filings
  • Handle tax compliance payments, including monthly filing of state sales tax returns and quarterly filings
  • Manage internal intercompany accounting transactions
  • Produce internal financial reports and job tracking billing/cost reports
  • Handle audits for insurance, unions, state sales tax, etc.
  • Prepare weekly payroll for union and non-union employees, including the timely submission of monthly union reports
  • Update yearly prequalification reports for general contractors
  • Maintain federal, state, and local registrations and licenses
  • Administer annual 401K reporting and medical/health insurance renewals
  • Manage yearly insurance renewals  
  • Arrange bonding and enroll in OCIP jobs, as required
  • Oversee certified payroll reporting
  • Manage outside consultants, including IT and software


Job Requirements


Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of accounting experience, at least 7 years in management roles
  • Minimum 7 years leadership experience in construction accounting, working for a general contractor or sub-contractor
  • Highly data driven and detail oriented, extremely organized
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, multitasking skills
  • Effective team player, positive attitude, strong work ethic
  • Strong cross functional team leadership skills
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required, Microsoft Great Plains software experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
