Job Description

Job Summary: 

The Production Control Analyst - Materials Ordering is responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely procurement of materials necessary for production. This role involves managing inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and working closely with the production team to maintain optimal material availability and support continuous production operations. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Materials Planning and Ordering: 

  • Analyze production schedules and forecasts to determine material requirements. 

  • Generate and place purchase orders for raw materials, components, and supplies. 

  • Maintain accurate records of material transactions, inventory levels, and supplier information. 

  • Supplier Coordination: 

  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials. 

  • Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers. 

  • Address and resolve any issues related to delayed deliveries, quality concerns, or order discrepancies. 

  • Inventory Management: 

  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations. 

  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts. 

  • Implement inventory control procedures to optimize stock levels and reduce carrying costs. 

  • Production Support: 

  • Collaborate with production planners and supervisors to align material availability with production schedules. 

  • Provide timely updates on material status and potential impacts on production. 

  • Assist in resolving any material-related issues that may disrupt production processes. 

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: 

  • Utilize ERP systems and other software tools to track and analyze material usage and inventory trends. 

  • Prepare and present reports on inventory performance, material costs, and supplier performance. 

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. 

  • Continuous Improvement: 

  • Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance material ordering and inventory management efficiency. 

  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in materials management. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 

  • Experience: 

  • Minimum of [X] years of experience in production control, materials planning, or supply chain management. 

  • Proven experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and inventory management software. 

  • Technical Skills: 

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis. 

  • Excellent understanding of inventory control principles and supply chain processes. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 

  • Soft Skills: 

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • APICS Certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP). 

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment. 

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices. 

Working Conditions: 

  • This position typically operates in an office environment within a manufacturing facility. 

  • May require occasional travel to supplier sites or other company locations.
