The Die Shop Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Die Shop including all people, processes, and die and extrusion tooling. This position reports to the General Manager and will be accountable for the Safety, Employee Relations, Productivity, Quality, Process Improvement and Scheduling Commitments to our Team Members, Customers, and overall Organization. This role is a key member of the Wellsville Leadership Team.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 8-10 team members in the Die Shop.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Oversee all die shop accountabilities, including making sure all tooling is ready for production at time of scheduling
Quote tooling for new business and provide production data
Order new and replacement tooling for all presses
Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties
Provide expertise in the correction of dies and provide all necessary tools and techniques to make sure extrusions are within tolerance and meet the customer's requirements
Develop and recommend continuous improvement initiatives to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
Communicate with die vendors to track their deliveries, die trials, and provide feedback on die corrections
Track and report On-Time die deliveries and first (1st) time die trial success
Direct activities regarding the Nitriding of dies and track production for re-nitriding
Manage all die cleaning processes (caustic room) to include safety, throughput, quality, and scheduling of necessary materials (caustic deliveries and waste pickup as needed)
Maintain materials list and reorder in a timely manner
Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
Lead the focus on process and system continuous improvements
Facilitate team development through effective selection, orientation, training, and development processes, including appraisals, and compensation administration
Develops capital justifications to improve quality, cost, and efficiency of die shop functions.
Cross-train, learn and support other functions or processes as required
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education
Education equivalent to a four-year degree in business, production management, or a related field, Or the equivalent in years of work experience within Extrusion/Die Shop.
5+ years' experience in management in a manufacturing environment within the Die shop required
1+ years AutoCAD experience preferred

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of all aluminum extrusion Die Shop functions to include die shop equipment, tools and tooling, processes, and die correction techniques.
Strong knowledge of Aluminum Extrusion manufacturing processes, quality systems and safety procedures.
Required to maintain respectful and professional relationships with all site teams, customers, and suppliers
Demonstrate strong leadership and influencing skills to assist the team in meeting commitments to safety, budget, goals, and growth (Long-Range Plan)
Proven ability to multi-task and set priorities under pressure
Excellent oral and written communication skills
High attention to details with problem solving and analytical skills
Flexible to work overtime or change shifts as required, including being on call for emergencies
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints
Knowledge and experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Preferred
Experience and knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and requirements
Experience and knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma concepts, tools and methodologies preferred
Proficient computer skills- Microsoft Office Suite
Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen

Ability to work on the production floor with exposure to dust, fumes, odors, loud nose, and varying temperatures.
Occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to work requiring standing with frequent stooping, bending, reaching overhead and sufficient manual dexterity to perform all aspects of the job
Ability to lift and move parts/equipment up to 100 pounds
Ability to climb up/down ladders and stairs, negotiate uneven or moving surfaces, and work at varying heights
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
