Lead Teacher - Early Childhood Education (Direct Hire)
Location: VCU Health System Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7.5-hour shifts between 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM Open Positions: 3
Position Overview
We are currently seeking experienced and passionate Lead Teachers to join our early childhood education team. This is a direct hire opportunity offering the chance to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment supporting the growth and development of children ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years old.
The ideal candidate is nurturing, adaptable, and experienced in leading classroom activities while fostering a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a classroom of young children, ensuring a safe and supportive environment
Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
Support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development
Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and team members
Maintain compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
Handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-interaction setting
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, Psychology, or a related field OR High School Diploma (or equivalent) with at least 40 hours of coursework in early childhood education or a related discipline OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 2 years of formal experience working with children (paid or unpaid)
Prior experience in a lead teacher or classroom leadership role
Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years

Physical Requirements
Frequent bending and movement
Ability to climb stairs and occasional ladder use
Ability to actively engage with children throughout the day
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working specifically with infants (6 weeks to 2 years old)
Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education
