Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Production Saw Operator Lead to oversee the daily operations of the saw department while leading and supporting a team of Saw Operators. In this hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining saw equipment while ensuring production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with manufacturing experience who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys coaching team members while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Production Responsibilities
Set up and operate saw equipment according to production specifications.
Measure, mark, and cut raw materials to precise dimensions.
Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and cut lists.
Inspect materials and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
Adjust machine settings for optimal performance and accuracy.
Perform routine equipment maintenance and blade changes.
Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance concerns.
Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S principles.
Leadership Responsibilities
Train, mentor, and coach Saw Operators on safe and efficient equipment operation.
Assign daily work and prioritize production schedules.
Monitor team productivity, quality, and performance.
Provide coaching and constructive feedback to team members.
Serve as the first point of contact for equipment troubleshooting.
Communicate production goals, schedule changes, and safety updates.
Assist with onboarding and training new team members.
Partner with leadership on scheduling, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing or warehouse experience.
At least 1-2 years of experience operating saws or similar industrial equipment.
Previous lead, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.
Required Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize work and delegate effectively.
Experience with RF scanners or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a plus.
