  • Advises and assists leadership and staff with human resources programs, policies and procedures related to human resources functional area.
  • Provides proactive support in the development and communication of human resources programs, policies and procedures; reviews, analyzes, recommends and develops new programs, policies and procedures.
  • Monitors changes in leave administration laws and regulations and provides recommendations for revisions to current programs, policies and procedures and new programs, policies and procedures.  Implements and communicates changes, as needed.
  • Coordinates with other HR functional areas, payroll and other stakeholders as needed to ensure accurate and timely leave administration processing.
  • On an annual basis, may assist with the coordination, preparation and delivery of the Pre-Retirement Planning Seminar and Open Enrollment for eligible employees.
  • Consults with and advises Human Resources Business Partners and leadership on human resources programs, policies and procedures.
  • Consults with Human Resources Business Partners and others to effectively manage and deliver FMLA, ADA, Shared Leave, Military Leave and other types of employee leave.
  • Advises leaders throughout the leave and/or ADA process to ensure accurate understanding and expectations of the process.
  • Provides prompt resolution of requests and questions specific to functional area, which may have been escalated due to the specialized nature.
  • Receives Total Rewards leave administration emails and phone calls and responds to questions, inquiries, submissions within one university business day.
  • Meets with employees to respond to questions, resolve issues or explain processes related to FMLA, ADA, Shared Leave, Military Leave or other forms of employee leave.
  • Processes leave and ADA requests, which includes but is not limited to, determining eligibility, providing appropriate forms and documentation to employees, reviewing documentation for completeness, providing appropriate communication to employee and leader and providing follow-up throughout the process to ensure a successful return-to-work and/or accommodation process.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in functional area; educates staff to ensure consistent and equitable application of policies and procedures.
  • Processes leave and ADA requests, which includes but is not limited to, determining eligibility, providing appropriate forms and documentation to employees, reviewing documentation for completeness, providing appropriate communication to employee and leader and providing follow-up throughout the process to ensure a successful return-to-work and/or accommodation process.
  • On a biweekly basis, presents leave administration information to new employees for New Employee Orientation.
  • Presents leave administration information to new leaders during New Leader Orientation.
  • Identifies issues that may hinder the University's progress on strategic initiatives and recommends appropriate interventions, as needed.
  • Researches, identifies any areas of opportunity or gaps in processes and potential resolutions and escalates to leadership.
