Job Description

In this role, you will be part of a team to develop instructor-led training (ILT), structured on-the-job training (OJT), and competency verification checklists for DCS Control Room Operators. 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Planning/development and execution of DCS Control Room Operations Training, included but not limited to: 

  • DCS Functions 

  • DCS Screen Navigation 

  • DCS Setpoint Manipulation 

  • DCS Screen Monitoring and Rounds 

  • Abnormal Operating Conditions Recognition and Response 

  • Process Troubleshooting 

  • Alarm and Emergency Response Management 

  • Support the development of detailed training activities  

  • Support the delivery of DCS Control Room training activities in classroom and field settings 

  • Coordinate with Client regarding activities and tasks that impact the DCS Operator Training Plan 

  • Perform the development, review, and edition of DCS Control Room training for a large complex facility 

  • Develops and implements training activities directed at both employee competencies and technical skills for DCS Control Room operations in accordance with client guidelines and templates 

  • Support quality reviews to improve training efficiency, processes, and cost efficiency 

 
Job Requirements
 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

Requires bachelor's degree (or equivalent military /professional training) and at least 8 years of relevant experience or greater than 12 years of relevant work experience 

Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Extensive experience (5 Years +) in Training and Development of Operations personnel in a complex processing plant or pipeline system (Preference in Hydrocarbon/Upstream Operations) 

  • Experience or significant familiarity with DCS Control Room activities. 

  • Applied knowledge of classroom and field training methodologies. 

  • Knowledge of development tools used to provide training program deliverables (MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Articulate, etc.) 

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to deliver training courses using classroom techniques and standard or improvised teaching aids 

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present effective oral and written reports 

  • Knowledge in developing, coordinating, implementing, and administering competency/skill-based training programs. 

  • Knowledge and experience in the scope of work required for DCS Control Room operations and including systems knowledge related to production, storage, utilities, transportation, and utility equipment associated with Oil & Gas production activities. 

  • Knowledge of and practical experience using a systematic approach to training, including the Instructional Systems Design process by: 

  • Analyzing a job or task 

  • Designing training outlines and course structures 

  • Developing applicable training media 

  • Implementing training outcomes 

  • Evaluating effectiveness of training 

  • Skilled at facilitating one-on-one and group interview meetings.
