Job Description

Key responsibilities of this position include: 
  1. Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Legal Personnel, provide ongoing assistance throughout the firm's various compensation processes.
  2. Assist in managing and monitoring the firm's compensation management system, PayScale, serving as a key point of contact for the vendor and internal clients.
  3. Gather appropriate data and create and apply formatting to compensation spreadsheets during the annual business services compensation and bonus processes.
  4. Upload all compensation and other changes resulting from the annual compensation processes (lawyers and business services), ensuring the integrity of the data and codes being entered through validation reporting.
  5. Manage the process of completing, auditing and distributing the required on-line compensation memos to employees.
  6. Responsible for completing the annual compensation surveys as requested, managing the timeline and requirements of each survey and ensuring accuracy of matching positions at the firm.
  7. Conducts FLSA reviews to ensure positions are classified accurately.
  8. Audits job descriptions and postings to ensure ADA and FLSA compliance. Makes adjustments to content to reflect level and nature of work.
  9. Performs market analysis and has demonstrated experience creating grading structures and salary ranges.
  10. Performs internal equity studies in response to employment actions (transfers, promotions, etc.).
  11. Supports talent acquisition efforts with job pricing and compensation related inquiries.
  12. Assists in developing and supporting training efforts and drafting communications related to compensation.
  13. Participates in various human resources related projects as necessary.
  14. Provides recommendations related to compensation process improvements.
  15. Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

 
Job Requirements
 

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
  1. Bachelor's degree required
  2. Minimum of 2-5 years of compensation experience is required
  3. Experience working with HRIS systems, preferably Workday
  4. CCP certification a plus
  5. Project management experience strongly preferred
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  7. Solid working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, with a minimum intermediate expertise of Excel. Advanced demonstrated knowledge of Excel required, including vlookups, pivot tables and formula generation
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate potentially detailed and complex information to others
  9. Ability to protect and maintain confidential and highly sensitive information with discretion and tact
  10. Aptitude and willingness to work with complex procedures
  11. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  12. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities and deadlines in a professional manner
  13. Ability to work independently and with a team
  14. Strong work ethic with the willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities
  15. Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and common sense

Job Requirements:
  • Confirming and making enhancements to our proposed grade structure
  • Confirming on an ongoing basis our FLSA statuses of our positions
  • Partnering with the business services and legal personnel teams on the annual merit and bonus processes
  • Taking the lead on our new compensation tool implementation, including training and education
  • Ensuring job description integrity
  • Researching and recommending new salary surveys, as well as completing them
  • Creating compensation guidelines for internal job changes, promotions, etc.
  • Market studies for specified departments
