What you will do
  • Review, abstract, and code multiple/subspecialty services and assign appropriate coding classification
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of coding classification systems, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, disease processes, and surgical techniques
  • Maintain professional certification in coding and other subspecialties as appropriate
  • Interact with and provide feedback to providers and other clinic staff on a regular basis
  • Research and resolve complex coding cases
  • Assist with other department coding needs as requested
  • Serve as a mentor for and assist in the training of junior coders
  • Audit for coding/charge capture accuracy
  • Assist on special projects as needed

What it takes to join the family
  • Work Monday through Thursday 7:00am - 4:30pm MT and Fridays 7:00am - 12:00pm MT (some flexibility based on time zone)
  • Required background/ experience in medical billing
  • HS Diploma, college degree preferred 
  • Minimum of one year experience in a medical biller or similar position
  • Superior attention to detail and a solid base understanding of medical terminology, referrals and pre-authorizations, procedure and visit authorizations, eligibility and benefits verification, insurance billing procedures
  • Exceptional knowledge of common systems and applications
  • Task oriented personality with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, goal-oriented atmosphere
  • Capable of working successfully on a team and independently
  • Analytical mindset with a problem-solving aptitude
  • Ability to escalate concerns to the appropriate person and/or department
  • Displays decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Understands the functions of a revenue cycle specialist and demonstrates competency and willingness to share knowledge and mentor others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams).
