BHI Energy is currently looking for a janitorial/housekeeping working foreman at the Ashville Plant located in Arden, NC.  This is a local hire position and does not pay perdiem or any relocation fees.
Position Overview:  Responsible for day-to-day supervising of safe performance of employees that you are assigned daily. Work performance and minor mechanical support shall be to a level that meets established standards and expectations of BHI Energy Power Services and the client. Be able to follow the CCP Procedure Adherence for a safe and event free work environment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:  Specific job responsibilities and duties should include but not be limited to:
  • Responsible for ensuring the removal of  vegetation growth from ash pond areas, dams, active and inactive basins, emergency spillways, and on slopes.  As well as around FGD settling, blowdown, flush, coal runoff ponds  to meet the standards of the clients and BHI Energy.
  • Be familiar with tools and equipment such as tractors, bush hogs, weed eaters, spiders mowers,  side arms, and skid steers.
  • Responsible for providing assistance if needed for the removal of trash, debris, (e.g. rocks, brush, tree limbs)  from in and around ash pond areas and transporting to areas for disposal.
  • Responsible for overseeing employees on a day to day operation of using hand tools such as shovels, picks, rakes, etc.
  • May also be required, when trained, to operate equipment such as front-end loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, tractors, fork lifts, and other light construction equipment as well as oversee employees to use the equipment.
  • Must be available to help employees address and resolve a wide variety of safety concerns and complaints and perform Coaching/Counseling when needed as well as DAR’s
  • Responsible for providing assistance and support in daily paper work (i.e. vacation request, and other various office forms, completing job task, qualify/verify/and validate completed assignments.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper documentation of daily activities.
  • Responsible for administering  rules, regulations, policies, job hazard analyses, pre-job briefs, and procedures to the employees.
  • Responsible for the safety of all employees assigned to your work group as well as other work groups.
  • Be able to communicate with the client, supervisors, as well as employees.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Will be responsible for assigning duties to equipment operators and providing necessary materials, tools, and  protective clothing (chaps, safety glasses, Tyvek suits, and face shields to complete the assigned daily task.
  • Follow established safe work practices and see that your employees have their correct training.
  • Oversee job task that shall include your employees to stand for long periods of time during the day.
  • Capable of lifting a minimum of fifty pounds over head.
  • This position also involves handling equipment ranging in weight from 1-100 pounds.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all workers wear their proper PPE daily.
  • Responsible for treating all coworkers and clients with respect.
  • Must be able to supervise a crew of 1 or more personnel.
  • Overseeing the daily walk downs of the areas they are assigned to for hazards.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Training Requirements:  Selected candidate must be capable of successfully passing the following training classes with a minimum of 80% test score:
  • Site & BHI Orientation
  • Bloodborne Pathogen, Fall Protection
  • Hearing Conservation
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Behavior Based Safety Training
  • OSHA 10 – required for advancement to next level
  • Asbestos Awareness (site specific-where applicable)
  • Chemical Control and Hazard Communications
  • Any additional training may be required as needed by site specific task.
