POSITION SUMMARY:


Individual will manage Transmission projects to ensure all phases of approved projects are completed efficiently and within scope, on schedule and within budget. Works closely with management personnel in Operations, Construction, Finance, Legal and Purchasing. Primary duties will include overall responsibility for the management of all aspects of projects including managing the development and process for evaluation of bid documents for construction, as well as for the procurement of material and third-party services; and ensuring that all aspects of the projects are documented and completed in accordance with company policies and all regulations and laws.

ACCOUNTABILITIES - PRIMARY DUTIES:

Project Manager Level

  • Reports to the Project Director, T&D West.
  • Assigned projects are multi-discipline in nature, multi stakeholder involvement and financial risk exposure profile requiring management reporting communications.
  • Responsible to take the necessary action to see that the projects are completed efficiently, on time and within the established budgets.
  • Responsible for managing customer interface as necessary to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Integrates and manages a cross functional project team to develop appropriate project roles and responsibilities.
  • Driving work products by coordinating and working with Operations Leads and Managers to track and execute client deliverables.
  • Manages the team's development of a comprehensive project plan, schedule, communications plan and change control methodology.
  • Coordinates the development of a detailed project budget and cash flow. Manages the reporting of project scope, budgets, schedules, and progress.
  • Manages execution of the project plan and project change control management process.
  • Manages the development and evaluation of bid documents for construction and procurement of material and third-party services.
  • Manages the coordination of required energization plans and operating instructions.
  • Manages project close out in a timely manner to support business goals.Provides clear, concise, and comprehensive reports for management.

In addition to the above duties:

  • Individual could be assigned complex projects requiring close stakeholder interaction such as new transmission line construction, projects of financial risk, or assigned to a specific portion of a major project to manage under the direction of a Project Director Transmission & Distribution.
  • Provides guidance to project support associates. 

 
Job Requirements

 

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Physical Sciences (preferred); Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business or the equivalent degree will be considered.
  • Master's degree and Project Management class work are desirable.

 

Experience

  • > (5) years of related experience with Construction Project Management is highly desired.
  • > (3) years prior experience in transmission construction projects.

 

Knowledge/Skill

  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and solve problems, analyze data, write reports, and make presentations.
  • Possesses the ability to cope with deadlines, manage time, set priorities, define roles and responsibilities, and make decisions.
  • The ability to schedule, plan and manage complex transmission projects.
  • Self-starter with strong communication skills, including listening, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Individual leadership abilities, planning skills, decisiveness, and customer focus.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prepare construction schedules in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera.
  • Excellent leadership, teambuilding, coaching, problem solving, interpersonal and motivational skills required.

 

Travel Requirement: Up to 50%.
