Electrical Engineer, Principle
Task to be performed:
Using IPS settings database, retrieve transmission relay As-Left Settings for applicable line protection settings.
Validate Aspen short circuit model, using impedance data and system one-line displays.
Using As-Left Settings, prepare Aspen short circuit model case for PRC-027 evaluation.
Perform Short Circuit fault studies.
Using ARS, automatic relay settings software, analyze As-Left Settings with Aspen model to evaluate PRC-027 compliance.
For non-conforming settings, develop new transmission line protection settings (and other if applicable) and submit for internal peer review.
As needed, revise line protection settings per internal peer review comments.
Using IPS, issue new relay settings for implementation.
As requested, participate in PRC-027 status meetings and document progress on a weekly basis.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements: Has typically acquired 10 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is required for this position unless approval to waive this requirement is given by the organization's EVP.*ABET - Engineering
Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Acceptable alternatives are (1) a bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or (2) a bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program. ** Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
