Evaluate, analyze and monitor the risk posed by new and continuing merchant services and payments business opportunities. Perform underwriting review of new business and conduct ongoing monitoring in of existing relationships.

Job Requirements


Underwrite, review and monitor both low and high risk payments customers (merchants). Acquiring experience REQUIRED.

Enhance the bank's payment risk monitoring program, including meeting the risk monitoring requirements of payment card brands and NACHA, and further the development of risk analytics and reporting.

Assess highly-complex payment customer relationships (partners), including ISO's, Payment Facilitators, Third Party Payment Processors, ISV's, and Card Issuing Sponsorship relationships

Conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) on merchants, partners, and the bank's customer's customer

Complete periodic reviews of high risk merchants and partners

Analyze data to identify trends/anomalies in customer behavior, and investigate suspicious activity

Assist management in audits and regulatory compliance requirements

Provide oversight of sponsor only relationships to maintain compliance.

Audit underwriting and risk of sponsored business generated through partner relationships with ISOs.

Assist department manager with completion of quarterly and annual reporting, as needed.

Stay current with industry developments, regulations and all applicable regulations.

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics or other analytical discipline

3 years' experience in payments underwriting and risk monitoring

Understanding of various payment methods, including credit card, ACH, RDC, and real-time payments

Ability to interpret KYC/CIP due diligence documentation, including LexisNexis, MATCH, Thompson Reuters, SOC 1/2, and PCI-DSS certifications

Knowledge of business financial statements and tax returns, and the ability to evaluate credit strengths and weaknesses of prospective customers

Comprehensive knowledge of payment brand (Visa/MasterCard/NACHA) rules and non-compliance programs

Previous experience in community banking and financial technology is a plus

Proven aptitude and desire to learn new, complex concepts and systems

Ability to make clear, diligent, well-reasoned decisions based on multiple data points and risk factors

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and payment brand risk monitoring tools
