Primary Job Responsibilities:
Operating mowers and equipment in performing routine duties.
Performing routine sprinkler maintenance in addition to preventive maintenance and minor repair of all grounds keeping equipment.
Performing maintenance and caretaker work in mowing grass, cleaning grounds, emptying trash, edging, weeding, and maintaining flower beds and shrubs.
Assisting in the application of fertilizers.
Planting/transplanting landscape materials.
Cleaning fountains, reflecting ponds, and statues.
Lifting and carrying heavy objects and/or equipment as needed.
Assisting with moving supplies, equipment, and furniture as needed.
Assisting other Facilities Management personnel in performance of routine and emergency tasks.
Performing other relevant departmental duties as assigned.
Requires a minimum of one (1) year of job-related experience.
Requires a valid Florida driver"s license and satisfactory MVR to operate college vehicles.
Ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions in English.
Ability to read and understand label instructions on chemicals.
Knowledge of practices and procedures used in grounds maintenance.
Knowledge of small tools and equipment used and ability to make small repairs.
Demonstrates cross-cultural awareness and communication skills to maximize effective collaboration across diverse groups on-campus.
Physical role requiring heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending twisting, and kneeling. Prolonged standing and walking to various areas around campus to access work areas. Ability to handle, lift and/or carry heavy objects and equipment.
