Position Summary:

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life are seeking applicants for the positions of Graduate Assistant for Community Engagement and Graduate Assistant for Leadership Development. These positions are designed for graduate students who have demonstrated exceptional responsibility, leadership, interpersonal skills, and an interest in programming and assessment of various departmental functional areas. Employment outside of this position must be approved by the Fraternity & Sorority Life Professional Staff.

Primary objectives are as follows:

Graduate Assistant for Community Engagement

Serve as the main point of contact for all organization events.
Oversee event registration process.
Coordinate with officers to ensure all documents and information is shared appropriately.
Ensure all officers are trained on the event registration process.
Collaborate with Scheduling and Event Services for all on campus events.
Coordinate community wide social opportunities
Working in close partnership with IFC/CPC Councils and advisor
Plan and execute FSL social program once a semester.
Provide support during the following times:
Residential Hall opening and closing
Formal sorority recruitment
Formal fraternity recruitment
Greek Week
Coordinate the bi-annual Community Commitment Review process
Coordinate community wide service opportunities
Graduate Assistant for Leadership Development

Responsible for the training and coaching of officers:
Host monthly round tables
Meet 1:1 with officers as needed
Host once a semester training
Current officers:
Social Chairs
Philanthropy Chairs
Risk Managers
Standards Chair
PR Chair
Community Service
Coordinate monthly FSL Lead speaker series.
Cultivate opportunities for leadership development.
Sharing opportunities from other departments, community events etc.

Provide a mentoring relationship that assists with the development of student leaders and student workers
Coordinate and oversee student leader selection and training
Be alert to student issues and concerns, and where necessary, assist students with academic, personal, social and health issues
Make appropriate referrals to various campus offices and personnel
Follow-up on concerns from the Office of Fraternity & Sorority and convey related information as requested
The College has adopted the following policy which formally prohibits amorous relationships between supervisors and their subordinates:

Amorous Relationships between Supervisors and Subordinates: As an educational institution, Rollins College strives to maintain for its employees an environment of safety, trust and mutual respect. As part of its ongoing efforts to maintain a safe working environment, Rollins prohibits and will not tolerate discrimination, harassment or any mistreatment of employees. While Rollins recognizes that "consensual" amorous or romantic relationships between employees do not constitute sexual harassment, it also recognizes that such relationships may end unhappily or become conflicted and result in charges of sexual harassment, or even physical or psychological abuse. In such cases, the College has a legal duty to respond to and investigate these charges in the same manner as charges arising in any other context. Further, some courts reviewing such claims have held that supervisor and employee relationships are inherently unequal because supervisors have authority or control over employees. Thus, in relationships that are inherently unequal, the existence of consent may not insulate an individual or the College from liability if charges of sexual harassment are filed.

Accordingly, all staff members are expressly prohibited from engaging in amorous relationships with employees under their supervision or advisement. Staff members who violate this policy will be subject to the disciplinary procedures of the institution including possible termination.

Additionally, all staff members are expressly prohibited from engaging in nonprofessional relationships with students, including but not limited to amorous relationships with any students.

Staff Requirements:

Enrolled in an approved graduate program
Abide by and enforce all College regulations as outlined in the Code of Community Standards, the Guide to Residential Hall Living and Fraternity and Sorority Life Handbook
Have any additional employment approved by his or her supervisor before an employment offer is accepted

Education Requirement:

Candidates interested in this role must be actively enrolled in a graduate degree-seeking program in order to qualify for this position, and must remain actively enrolled in a graduate degree-seeking program for the duration of their employment in this position.
