Kleinfelder is currently seeking a Civil Project Engineer with 3-6 years’ experience in our San Diego, CA office.
The ideal candidate will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering services in our team-oriented environment providing public and clients with professional engineering services for highway, roadway and drainage improvements; and site development, erosion mitigation and stormwater management. It’s a fast-paced office with multiple on-going projects, including a wide variety of tasks, with competing priorities. The ideal candidate will possess strong oral and written communication skills, excellent inter-personal skills for working in multiple group settings, and a strong desire to learn, grow, and succeed.
Responsibilities would include:
- Preliminary and Final Design plans for multiple jurisdictions
- Providing CADD design of Contract Drawings using ACAD and/or Microstation
- Creating exhibits to be used at client meetings
- Performing spreadsheet calculations using Excel
- Performing Hydraulic Calculations for Erosion Countermeasures and Stormwater Design
- Preparing Construction Cost Estimates
- Reading and interpreting agency standard drawings and specifications
- Technical Report Writing
- Preparing Technical Specifications
- Preparing documents for Federal, State and Local permits
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required. Master’s degree is a bonus.
Engineer-in-Training certification is required. Professional Engineering Registration in California or NCEES record is a bonus.
3-6 years of civil engineering experience.
Heavy experience in either MicroStation Inroads for 3D Design and / or AutoCAD Civil 3D is required; may be asked to supplement skills via our online training series
Experience with ProjectWise is a bonus.
Experience with HydroCAD, HEC-RAS and other hydraulic modeling software is a bonus.
Prior engineering consulting experience working with Caltrans is a bonus.
