A specialty software company headquartered in the West Chester, PA area has engaged us on a search to identify a Sr. Technical Writer to join their team.  The primary objective of this position is to write documentation that teaches their customers how to use their products. This will involve working with internal subject-matter experts and software developers to research and write documentation that empowers their customers to learn the software on their own.  The Sr. Technical Writer will create and maintain installation and administration guides, online Help, tutorials and training lessons, and product release notes while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency.   The Tech Writers serve as a bridge between their customers and their development, technical support, and quality assurance teams.

  • Write superb documentation for company’s software products.
  • Research highly technical subject matter, collaborating with multiple teams to organize information and express it clearly and thoroughly.
  • Work with training personnel to determine the best way to teach users of different experiences about new features and functionality in our products.
  • Augment QA process by reporting technical issues with software products as you use them to develop documentation.
  • Publish documentation in several formats including HTML, PDF, and web-based support documents such as Salesforce knowledge articles
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of each project in its entirety.
  • Provide user-oriented feedback to developers about the products they are creating.

Requisitos de trabajo


  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, or another communications-related field, or in Engineering with a strong writing ability.
  • 7+ years of Technical Writing experience for highly technical and/or scientific software products.
  • Experience with handling multiple competing priorities and taking ownership of projects to drive them to completion.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new approaches or technologies that have a positive impact on the customer experience.
  • Experience following a style guide.
  • Familiarity with HTML.
  • Comfortable asking questions and tracking down answers.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of content management and authoring tools (preferably MadCap Flare).
  • Working knowledge of HTML, particularly XHTML.
  • Working knowledge of source control software / practices (preferably Perforce).
  • Familiarity with JavaScript.
