We have been exclusively engaged on a priority search for a client of ours in the Retail / Apparel industry who is looking to bring on a Technology Leader to oversee, guide and evolve their Enterprise Applications ecosystem.  This iconic fashion brand is the best performing brand under an umbrella of other successful companies and the parent company is investing heavily in reinforcing and modernizing their retail systems and enterprise applications.   
This Sr. Manager of Enterprise Applications has overall responsibility for the evaluation, design, and support of the enterprise systems used in the retail lifecycle.  This includes, but not limited to: Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), ERP system, Merchandising system, Order Management/Warehouse Management, and Point of Sale system.  There will be 3-4 direct reports to this position all of whom are responsible for directly supporting one or more of those systems.  Additionally, this position will work closely with the Digital Marketing/eCommerce team, the Business Intelligence/Data team and the Enterprise Infrastructure team to ensure application compatibility and interoperability across the enterprise.  
With the pandemic forcing a shift away from brick and mortar and more towards ecommerce, an unprecedented strain has been put on all of these enterprise systems to continue to provide the same customer and brand experience that their retail stores are known for.  Therefore, it has exposed several opportunities to enhance, modify or even replace some of the enterprise applications.  This position will be responsible for leading that effort.
  • Define and oversee the architecture for all enterprise systems including Product Lifecycle Management, Point of Sale, Order Management, CRM, Supply Change/Warehouse Management, Accounting, and Payments.
  • Understand the business needs, identify key areas for remediation, improvement and optimization and develop a three year Enterprise Application plan
  • Work with the team on development and configuration for all Enterprise Applications and surrounding tools/capabilities to meet advanced needs.  Provide domain-specific technical leadership and ensure alignment with broader enterprise architectural strategies
  • Help plan and sequence inter-project system dependencies.
  • Consult with business partners and apply technology to business opportunities and with cross-functional applications.
  • Serve as a key interface between vendors, third party contractors and the internal teams. Working with vendors to understand emerging technologies and technical roadmaps
  • Document and assess current and future retail architecture
  • Ensure that application data models and integration designs are viable
  • Track the enterprise systems portfolio and industry innovations, bringing the very best technical developments into the environment so technology can be a competitive advantage for the company
  • Govern projects for adherence to standards and to approved architectures.Leverage retail technology trends to simplify complex architecture, maximizing current investment while future proofing future investments
  • Ensure compliance with retail specific regulations (PCI, SOX)

Job Requirements


Background Profile:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Background in Application Development with 7-10 years of experience in enterprise systems architecture and design including a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with ecommerce order management
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience serving in a senior developer or architect role for a multi-channel retailer (strongly preferred) or logistics company
  • Technical leadership experience in making the “build vs. buy” decision and on the design, development and/or configuration of distributed object-orientated solutions across multiple platforms.
  • Up-beat personality with a motivational leadership style geared towards a team-oriented approach to problem solving.  
  • Experience leading the migration or upgrade of an on-prem system to a SaaS / cloud-hosted solution.  
  • Strong experience with vendor management of third party solutions providers and consultants
  • Experience with large, high performing retail systems.  Experience in the following types of systems preferred: Product Lifecycle Management, Point of Sale, Order Management, CRM, Supply Change/Warehouse Management, Accounting, Payments
  • Specific experience with any of the following is a nice to have: Centric (PLM), Apparel Business System (ERP), Island Pacific (merchandising sales audit), Manhattan (order/warehouse management), eRegister (POS), Salesforce for eCommerce (service cloud, marketing cloud, commerce cloud), AgileOne (CDP).
