A client of ours based outside of Philadelphia, PA is looking to hire a key leader for their Business Intelligence and Data Engineering team and they have exclusively engaged our firm for this search. The company is the leading provider of MRO integrated supply chain management solutions to customers all over the world.  They work with tens of thousands of manufacturers and suppliers to service customers in industries such as pharmaceutical, academia/research, chemicals, medical devices, etc.   They are currently looking to grow their Business/Data Analytics capabilities and are looking for someone to come in and lead all aspects of enterprise BI initiatives to drive revenue, grow profitability and enhance analytic and reporting capabilities.  This will require this person to gain an understanding of the business objectives and leverage and lead the off-shore development teams to deliver advanced analytic solutions to the organization.  These include things like scorecards, data visualization, predictive analytics and reporting automation via Azure (SQL Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Factory), PowerBI and QlikSense.   This person will need to be capable of being hands-on in the areas of data engineering/BI reporting, but also very strategic to drive the roadmap for BI/Data Analytics solutions across the enterprise.  

This is a full-time, direct hire position and will require the majority of the time working on-site in their office outside of Philadelphia.  

Responsibilities:
  • Take on a lead role in setting a roadmap for a more streamlined, enterprise approach towards Business Intelligence and Data Analytics/Predictive Analytics for the organization.
  • Work with business stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into data models and reporting specifications that result in an optimal user experience. 
  • Drive increased operational performance by identifying high-value analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Work with in-house and off-shore development teams to develop PowerBI and QlikSense reports and dashboards.  Recommend and implement visualizations that are simple to interpret and provide powerful insights.
  • Design, build and optimize data warehouse/ data lake solutions leveraging Azure.
  • Design, build and optimize ETL processes including sourcing, maintaining, and updating data using Azure Data Factory.
  • Implement predictive analytics solutions that enable transition from reactive to proactive management.
  • Perform and coordinate system testing and user acceptance testing.
  • Contribute to training and roll out of BI solutions.
  • Work collaboratively to develop, document, and uphold Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices for data in the cloud.

 
Job Requirements

 

Background Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and at least 7 years of experience in Data Engineering or ETL with large-scale, complex data warehouses with specific proficiency in SQL, T-SQL and SSIS.
  • 5+ years experience in data or business analytics, report development and data visualization using PowerBI.  Experience with QlikSense is a plus.
  • Proficient in programming code transformations using Python
  • Proficiency with Azure Cloud Platform (highly desired)
  • Working knowledge of agile application development and software development life cycle concepts.
  • Strong collaboration skills with technical and non-technical people.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.  Ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Supply Chain industry knowledge (preferred)
