At a minimum you'll need:
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering technology or equivalent
Ten (10) + years of progressive experience which includes deep knowledge and experience in project design including:
Demonstrated knowledge of the basic materials and processes used in industry with emphasis on new technology developments
Demonstrated abilities to conceptualize, formulate design possibilities, and coordinate development by the project team under time and financial constraints
Commitment to effective supervision, coordination and evaluation, with recommendations for changes required to improve overall results
Demonstrated proficiency with computer aided design (CAD)
Proven ability to be a good team leader and inspirational leader to direct team as well as cross-functionally
Demonstrated strong communication and negotiation skills
Proven ability to plan and organize work to ensure productive use of all department working hours
Demonstrated experience making decisions involving complex sales/profit relationships
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
It'd be great if you also have:
AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Understanding of process improvement and project management techniques
Engineering data management system experience
Manufacturing fabrication or assembly experience
As a Project Engineering Manager, a typical day might include:
Overseeing project engineering pre- and post-order processes and instructing, training, and monitoring team members on all systems and procedures to maintain accurate and consistent documentation
Interfacing with internal departments (contract administration, credit, sales, sales administration, planning, design engineering, manufacturing, traffic, and product management) ensuring proper coordination for custom proposals and orders to meet the scope, estimated costs and time schedules of the project
Managing the development of effective concepts for application of standard and custom products in order to provide the best possible solutions for our customers
Providing training to team members and other departments in matters related to product application, non-standard design, and manufacturing documentation to ensure product quality and safety
Supporting fulfillment of customer expectations by understanding market and customer needs
Interfacing directly with customers, consultants, contractors, rigging contractors and architects to identify and resolve issues for proposals and orders
Monitoring and ensuring team meets on-time, cost, and quality metrics
Developing and operating within the approved department budget
Developing new product ideas to meet corporate and product line goals to ensure Wenger Corporation remains competitive in the marketplace
Collecting and approving list of materials, product application drawings, and costs for custom projects
Reviewing and approving submittal packages (drawings, orders, BOMs, etc) related to custom projects prior to sending to the customer
Assisting with troubleshooting issues with manufacturing and installation
